Video game developer Sumo Digital and publisher Focus Home Interactive recently fired a volley of videos showcasing the backstories of the main characters of Hood: Outlaws & Legends. The videos can be found on the Focus Home Community YouTube channel, and the accompanying announcement is posted on the Focus Home Interactive website.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends is an upcoming multiplayer PvPvE heist game currently scheduled to release sometime in 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. It’s a reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale, but with a seemingly darker tone. In Hood, you’ll play as the four main characters Robin Hood (The Ranger), Marianne (The Hunter), John (The Brawler), and Tooke (The Mystic).

Hood’s theme is still the same as it ever was, with a band of rebels and rogues leading a resistance group against an authoritarian and oppressive regime. You’ll be tasked with liberating government treasure that has been stolen from its citizens, competing with rival gangs to see who can plan and execute the most daring heists against the government. Matches will consist of two teams of four players, with each player attempting to make full use of each character’s skills in stealth, brutality, infiltration, and mysticism.

The four main characters in this Robin Hood interpretation have been reworked to fit into the darker theme of the game. Their backstories are told through their four Character Story Trailers: “The Ranger”, “The Hunter”, “The Brawler”, and “The Mystic”. These characters are alternate timeline representations of their original tale characters - Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Little John, and Friar Tuck - as you’ve probably never seen them before.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends was announced back in August of this year, with a release trailer and a Steam page listing. The closed beta launched in September, and seems to still be taking in applicants through its website.

In the backstories announcement, Focus Home Interactive also promised that more info on the game would be released during The Game Awards 2020 show scheduled for December 10. Check out the website for info on how, when, and where you can watch the show live across its numerous platforms.
