The Overwatch League’s Houston Outlaws have confirmed their signing of Harrisburg University player Enrique “Joobi” Triana. The 17-year-old support player is the first player to ever be signed from a collegiate team directly to an Overwatch League franchise.

Joobi began to make a name for himself in the Overwatch scene in 2019, playing for multiple contenders teams such as Maryville University’s Saints division and more recently, Second Wind. The support player transferred to Harrisburg University’s Overwatch team, the HU Storm, in August. He’s played under the HU Storm name since, only now leaving to join the Outlaws.

The Houston Outlaws are one of the founding Overwatch League franchises, though haven’t found much success since the league’s inaugural season. The Outlaws finished seventh in season one’s regular season, and later finished 16th in both seasons two and three. Following the 2020 season, the Outlaws released most of their starting lineup to undergo a rebuild.

Retaining only DPS duo Dante “Danteh” Cruz and João Pedro “Hydration” Goes Telles, the team signed a host of players to rebuild their OWL roster. Former Dallas Fuel support William "Crimzo" Hernandez joined the team, along with Jungwoo “Happy” Lee, Kyle “KSF” Frandanisa, and tank duo Shin “PIGGY” Min-jun and Cho “JJANGGU” Myung-heum. Joobi will join the squad for the 2021 Overwatch League season, provided his signing is approved by the league.

The Houston Outlaws will return for the upcoming OWL season, which is expected to begin sometime early next year.
