Aquaman has officially arrived in Fortnite, taking the place of Deadpool as the game's resident superhero. Here's how to get your virtual hands on the fetching Aquaman skins.

It would seem that each of Fortnite's seasons going forward is going to have a clear and present theme. Season 2's theme was gold, and Season 3 will be based around water. Well, the water theme started at the end of Season 2 thanks to Midas but has well and truly taken over now that Season 3 has officially arrived.

The water theme includes a massive map-wide flood, sharks that can be killed or befriended, and best of all, the arrival of Aquaman. That's right, as well as an in your face underlying theme, each Fortnite season now has its own resident superhero. Deadpool set up shop in Season 2, and DC's Aquaman will be the go-to hero for Season 3.

Unlike the Deadpool skin, which players chased for months, the Aquaman equivalent appears to be much easier to unlock. Players will first need to purchase the Battle Pass. This will unlock a bunch of new challenges, including the ones that will need to be completed before landing Aquaman. There are five challenges to complete in total before the base Aquaman skin becomes available.

The first of those challenges is "Use a Whirlpool at The Fortilla". The Fortilla is a new named location that players will need to visit before it reveals itself on the map. It is one of the places labeled "???" at the start of the season and is situated in the bottom left-hand corner of the map. Similar to the Deadpool challenges, a new one will be unveiled each week. There are five in total, so there won't be any Aquamen on the map until midway through July.

Once all five challenges have been completed, players will then be able to unlock the alternate Aquaman skin. There's only one challenge to complete for this one, but it has to be completed while wearing the base Aquaman skin so can't be unlocked for another five weeks at least. Once the opportunity arises, players will need to dive over the waterfall at Gorgeous Gorge while dressed as Aquaman.
