We've been covering the coolness of Cassette Beasts with a multitude of guides, so we've played a fair bit of Bytten Studio's neat monster-catching role-playing game and kept a keen eye on our clocks while doing so. Now more than ever, a large percentage of the gaming public needs to know how much time they're committing to something before springing for a new title - we all have busy lives, after all.

Per our research, and in conjunction with HowLongToBeat, we've arrived at an answer. Here's how long your trip to the island of New Wirral should last you.

How Long Does It Take To Beat Cassette Beasts?

Cassette Beasts Viola

Like most great RPGs, Cassette Beasts sports a full-fledged storyline with a main cast and several big plot moments. You'll want to keep your partner monsters gaining at least a few stars along the way - stars are levels, more or less - and your odds with the tougher Archangels will surely improve through remastering your mainstays.

But it's a minimal amount of work relative to how much you could be doing in Cassette Beasts, and it will get you through the entire story in around 18 hours. This includes finding and challenging the eight Archangels and 12 Ranger Captains, plus the climactic events that follow. You can probably rush through for a few hours less than that, but you'll be hard-pressed to get past certain encounters if it's your first time with the game.

On the other hand, Cassette Beasts prides itself on its 120 monsters to collect, and the island of New Wirral is practically bursting with puzzles that can be solved for treasure chests and rare encounters. Plus, there's a fairly meaty postgame chapter that's not only enjoyable in its own right, but the ticket to catching the last few creatures.

Exploring every nook and cranny, challenging every dueling denizen, building up your base stats at the gym, maxing out your inventory, and more - the endeavor has taken us well over 40 hours, and we reckon it may take you about the same. There may be DLCs to come back to in the future, as well; at least, there's mention of it on Cassette Beasts' Steam page.

For the record, HowLongToBeat lists 'Main Story + Extras' as 22 hours, but we suspect that's more of an estimation for the story and some side quest dabbling here and there rather than the complete package we're analyzing.
