When you first set foot in the new Crown Tundra expansion in Pokemon Sword and Shield, your attention will be pulled in a ton of different directions. Between new storylines, areas, and of course Pokemon, there's almost too much to do. One thing you shouldn't put off is getting your hands on the brand new Galarian Articuno. This is one of the new forms of the original Legendary bird Pokemon, and is quite tricky to capture. Here's everything there is to know about adding this new form of Articuno to your team.

How To Catch Galarian Articuno In Crown Tundra

All three of the new Galarian forms of the three Legendary birds, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, are found at the same time when you reach Dyna Tree Hill way down in the South of Crown Tundra. Once you arrive, though, they will all scatter into different areas you need to track them down in. Galarian Articuno is the only one to remain in the Crown Tundra region, so you won't have to travel too far to catch it.

Start by traveling to an area like Snowslide Slope and you should notice Galarian Articuno's shadow passing overhead as soon as you arrive. It can also show up in other locations, so you might need to bounce between a few locations before you spot it, but always seems to head toward the mountain's peak. Chase it down on your bike, avoiding any other battles on the way, and wait for it to stop in place and appear to wait for you. This is a perfect time to save your game just in case, because it will create two fake versions of itself to try and trick you into battling the wrong one.

Once it splits, the only way to tell which one is real is by paying attention to the wings. The real Articuno's wings will still move for a moment before they all spin around to try and confuse you, so keep track of that one with your eye. Pick the right one and it will start the encounter, but if you choose wrong you will have to leave and find the Articuno again, chasing it back up the mountain, or reload your save.

This form of Articuno isn't a Ice and Flying type anymore, but Psychic and Flying, so have a team ready to counter it ready before the fight starts.
