One benefit of being a later entry into a booming genre like battle royale is the ability to learn from the mistakes and successes of the games that came before. It took few games before the ability to respawn was introduced, and once it was other games began adding their own unique spin on the mechanic. The same is true of the latest upcoming big budget battle royale game, Hyper Scape. The way they go about handling respawning after death is different from any other battle royale you've played before, so knowing how it works beforehand can mean the difference between an early loss and triumphant comeback.

It should go without saying that this mechanic is only viable in the squad game mode, which consists of up to four-player teams. If you're going solo and you get downed, there's no coming back.

How To Respawn In Hyper Scape

No matter how good you are, or how coordinated your team is, at some point you or an ally is going to get killed. But, as long as at least one member of your squad survives, there's a chance at coming back. The system is most similar to that of the respawning mechanic in Apex Legends, but with the fallen player also needing to participate in their own revival.

After getting eliminated, you will drop all your gear and weapons as you would expect, but also become an Echo that can move around the map. While in this state you are essentially a ghost, unable to be seen by enemies or damage them, but are still able to help out your team by making call outs and pinging items or enemies. To actually start the respawning process you will need to find a Restore Point. This is where you, or your fallen squad members, can be brought back. To create one, a teammate must eliminate an enemy somewhere on the map, creating a yellow triangle.

By reaching a restore point and interacting with it as an Echo, plus a teammate also finding that same point and restoring you, you will be brought back into the game. Keep in mind this process does take some time, and your teammate is vulnerable while reviving you, so try and make sure the area is safe before starting the process. Having dropped all your gear when first killed, be aware that you will have nothing but your ammo packs on you when you are revived, so you'll need to rearm yourself quickly to stand a chance against any opponents.

Even if you cannot be revived right away, the Echo system is a great way to stay engaged in the game even after you've been killed. Rather than become a passive spectator like most other games, or have little to no agency in your own revival, Hyper Scape still allows you to be an asset to your team while in an Echo state. The system is just different enough to help this addition to the battle royale space stand out a little more without completely overhauling what makes the genre what it is.
