With the release of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity only a month away, Nintendo is slowly trickling out new details about the game through short trailers. After previously being re-introduced to all of the champions and catching a glimpse of a younger Impa, the newest trailer shows the return of the infamous Yiga Clan (or I guess their first appearance, canonically speaking).

A ninja-like force that constantly pestered players throughout The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this trailer shows what looks to be their ruler leading the charge to conquer Hyrule. As many fans are pointing out, his design is very reminiscent of Yuga from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. It's possible that this world is linked to the rest of the series after all, despite what the "official" timeline might state.

What I like most about Age of Calamity so far is that it seems to be improving upon all of the aspects I felt were lacking in Breath of the Wild. It certainly makes sense that this clan would be dissolved 100 years later, but the original game had very little background on what came before. Age of Calamity has the chance to rectify all of that, giving us the backstory we've been craving.

It also just plain looks awesome. The original Hyrule Warriors was one of the best Warriors games ever. Age of Calamity already looks like a step up and should be an excellent way to close out 2020 for the Switch...unless Nintendo has another surprise in store.
