Indie icons from all over the spectrum will be crossing over in this Super Smash Bros-like fighting game Bounty Battle. The epic animated trailer released today shows the promise of the title.

Even if you're a slight connoisseur of indie gaming, you'll likely recognize some of the characters on screen. The game's roster includes Juan from Guacamelee, The Beheaded from Dead Cells, Owlboy, the Crusader from Darkest Dungeon, and Gully from Battle Chasers: Nightwar to name just a few. It will have 30 characters overall, who have their moveset and special attacks derived from the original games.

Here's a full list of the games that will be referenced in Bounty Battle:

  • Guacamelee!
  • Darkest Dungeon
  • Dead Cells
  • Awesomenauts
  • Nuclear Throne
  • Owlboy
  • Axiom Verge
  • SteamWorld Dig

And in true 2D platform fighter fashion, there will be 16 stages with some based on the characters in the game. For example, Juan can fight Owlboy in his hometown Pueblucho. Bounty Battle also features a suite of modes you'd expect from a fighting game like Tournament, Versus, Challenge Mode, Tutorial, and the Training Room. However, it doesn't seem like there's an online mode for this title, which could be a big turnoff for those who want to compete in a COVID world.

Bounty Battle will be releasing on September 10, 2020, for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PC (Steam), and Xbox One for $19.99. For those who want a physical version, Signature Edition Games is selling a special edition with four enamel pins, a numbered collector's certificate with the developers' signatures, a 34-page manual, and an outer sleeve with different artwork. The special edition will be releasing for the PS4 and Switch at the price of £39.99 (or around $53 for Americans).
