It’s officially Gamescom week, which means tons of reveals, news, and updates on some of the most highly-anticipated games that will eventually be making their way into the hands of gamers. However, this week also brings along a slew of indie releases that are worth checking out in between all of the Gamescom coverage.

Here are our picks for this week in indie games, August 22 - 28.

King's Bounty II - August 23 (PC, PS4, XB1, Switch)

From developer 1C Entertainment comes the long-awaited sequel to the original King’s Bounty, where you’ll fight back against the evil forces that are descending upon the world of Nostria in this tactical strategy RPG. King's Bounty II is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Hoa - August 24 (PC, PS4, Switch)

Originally shown off during a Wholesome Direct, Skrollcat Studio’s Studio Ghibli-inspired Hoa is available now, featuring a puzzle platformer with beautifully hand-drawn visuals. Hoa is available now for PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

ProtoCorgi - August 26 (PC, Switch)

A weaponized Corgi, you say? What more could you ask for? Take on the role of Bullet as he attempts to save his owner from evil space aliens in this shoot ‘em up… er, bark ’em up title from developer Kemono Games. ProtoCorgi will be available on August 26 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. A demo is also currently available on Steam.

Spookware - August 26 (PC)

Spookware – from developer Beeswax Games – takes this week’s crown as the quirkiest game of the week. Help the Skelebros live their death to the fullest by participating in mini-games that are based on horror tropes. Spookware will be available on August 26 for PC via Steam.

Little Dog Bob - August 26 (PC)

It’s the second dog-focused game on this week’s list, and for good reason. I can’t help but smile watching the trailer for Little Dog Bob – from solo developer Simon Eltz. The endless runner features four different worlds with 23 levels each as you navigate the delightful Bob over, under, and around obstacles. Little Dog Bob will be available on August 26 for PC via Steam.

T-Minus 30 - August 26 (PC)

T-Minus 30 is a post-apocalyptic city builder from developers Dejobaan Games and Grey Alien Games in which you’re tasked with gathering as many resources as you can in 30 minutes while assembling rocket ships to save as many people as you can. T-Minus 30 will be available on August 26 for PC via Steam.
