According to a post by Redditor u/PlunderBunker, there may be an inFamous game development.

After doing some digging u/PlunderBunker, found the domain name "infamousthegame.com," which was updated on June 27, and it links to the official Sucker Punch website. Considering that Sucker Punch is hiring for a PS5 title, there could be a connection between the two.

inFamous started with a duology of games released on the PS3, which followed the story of Cole McGrath. During the PS4 generation, the series switched protagonists in inFamous Second Son to Delsin Rowe. The last release from the series was DLC called First Light, which came out in 2014 and served as a prequel to Second Son.

After a six-year window of no Sucker Punch games, we will soon get to play their next offering, Ghost of Tsushima, which will be released on July 17. The game has a healthy buzz surrounding it, but some fans still clamor for a return to the world of inFamous—specifically a return of the electrifying Cole.

While nothing is definitive, this could end up meaning nothing in the long run. It's still fun to speculate how this excellent franchise could return.

Coles back and we continue his story from inFamous 2. When we last saw him, at least in the "good" ending, Cole sacrifices himself to stop the Beast before receiving a burial at sea. In typical superhero fashion, though, his death might not be so clear cut—a bolt of lightning strikes which could signify his rebirth. We could pick up Cole's story from here in a game that may or may not touch on the events of Second Son.

While not poorly received by any means, Deslin didn't seem to capture the hearts of gamers in the same way as Cole. When we last saw Deslin, again, if we take the "good" ending as official canon, he'd exposed the evils of the D.U.P. and convinced the world that Conduits and humanity could live together peacefully. While there may be more to Deslin's story, it feels like the least likely option.

A new start for inFamous on a new console generation. Sucker Punch already tried this approach with Second Son, and it wasn't the rousing success they hoped for. Perhaps the second time will prove the charm?

If it can happen for Ratchet and Clank, why not inFamous? We might see a retelling of the first game with a slightly revamped story. Being one of the first games to popularize a morality system, there wasn't much nuance when it came to player choices. Cole was either a saint or the devil, and there was no in-between. Giving inFamous some ambiguity in terms of morality could be the refresh the series needs.

Hopefully, there is some fire to go along with this smoke, and regardless of what form it takes, at least we will get to play some more inFamous.
