Injustice 2 really has been tearing it up of late. Since its release last May, it has been widely lauded for its visuals, story, and mechanics, all of which are leagues ahead of the original Injustice. Is that enough, though? Of course, it isn’t.

For core fans of the genre, lasting appeal is key. You’ve got to keep switching it up, giving us new toys to play with and the balance changes that we’re always crying out for. Much more interestingly, on face value, we want badass new characters to rampage around the arenas as. Well, buckle up, friends, because here comes the next. Let’s meet Enchantress.

Last year, Injustice 2 brought us Fighter Packs 1 (Red Hood, Sub-Zero and Starfire, released from June to August) and 2 (Black Manta, Raiden and Hellboy, released from September to November). Fighter Pack 3 kicked off with Atom, on December 12. Tomorrow, DC Comics’ sinister supervillainess arrives, and man is she looking sweet.

In the explosive trailer, NetherRealm and Warner Bros show off Enchantress as she encounters Deadshot, and things go from 0 to beatdown at the speed of light. In a couple minutes of Injustice’s trademark super fast and flashy combat, we get an intriguing glimpse of the Switcheroo-Witcheroo’s (yep, cheesy as it is, that really is how she was billed in the original DC comics) move set and combat style.

Said style includes, but is not limited to, summoning beasts to fight for her, telekinesis, feral leaps onto the opponent’s chest, mind control trickery, and more flashy green projectiles than that grim vomity moment in The Exorcist.

In short, she’s looking right at home here, and an incredible addition that any Injustice 2 player will want to jump straight on board with come Jan. 9, 2018.

It's More of the same great new content which is brilliant to see. After all, with most big-name titles these days, it’s not just the content on the disk on release day that you’re paying for. Fighting games, in particular, are expected to see additions and balance patches out the wazzoo after release. Where would Street Fighter V have been, if it had forever remained in the state it was on day one? It doesn’t bear thinking about.

If the pattern holds true, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles—the next slice of Fighter Pack 3 action—will arrive next month. That’s something to be super pumped for, but in the interim, the Enchantress wants to fight. How do you think she’ll stack up against our picks for the best and worst fighters in the game?
