Warner Bros. has just dropped the debut trailer for the brand-new Injustice animated movie, featuring plenty of familiar faces. The film based on the NetherRealm Studios video game and the DC graphic novel will premiere on October 19.

The first footage totals out to just over one minute shows what happens when Superman goes mad. According to the story, the Joker and Harley Quinn ambush pregnant Lois Lane, who dies as a result of the incident. In addition, the Joker sets a massive blast in Metropolis, which destroys half of the city. This causes Superman to try taking over the entire world under his command, and it’s now up to Batman and other superheroes to stop the most powerful member of the Justice League.

Aside from the primary Batman vs. Superman conflict, Injustice will also bring other iconic characters to the table, like Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and more. The debut footage mostly just sets the scene for the further hero-on-hero conflict, but as you may expect from Injustice: Gods Among Us, this all ends in a massive fight.

The new animated Injustice project has some star-stellar cast, including Justin Hartley as Superman, Anson Mount as Batman, Kevin Pollak as the Joker, Laura Bailey as Lois Lane, and Yuri Lowenthal as Flash and Shazam among others. Matt Peters, known for animated Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, directed Injustice from a screenplay by Ernie Altbacker. The new feature-length animated movie is straight to digital and Blu-ray release that will be available starting October 19.

In the meantime, the developers from NetherRealm Studios have announced the end of support for their latest fighting game Mortal Kombat 11, as the team is now moving onto its next project. While there has been no official word on what will follow, there’s a good chance the fans will probably get Injustice 3 sometime in the future.

Regarding some other stuff the DC fans might be excited about, earlier director James Wan shows the first look for Aquaman 2, featuring Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry in the new stealth suit. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is currently scheduled to release on 16 December 2022.
