The expansion for Inscryption, Kaycee's Mod, launched into beta on December 14, 2021 and the developer, Daniel Mullins Games, has been asking for playtesters. You can participate in the beta for free on Steam at any time.

Kaycee’s Mod basically makes Part 1 of the base game endless while ramping up the difficulty over time. You play through a series of levels that unlock new cards, challenges, and logs from the player character in the base game, Kaycee Hobbes, which reveal some secrets about the story.

“I have received countless requests for an endlessly playable version of Part 1 that emphasizes Leshy's deckbuilding roguelike as a standalone experience,” the developer says. “That's what Kaycee's Mod is — and a little more.”

“Kaycee's Mod is a free mini-expansion for Inscryption that hacks Leshy’s Cabin into an endless and increasingly challenging roguelike. Apply different skulls to your run to ascend the Challenge Levels. Reaching new levels unlocks new cards, challenges, and dev logs inscribed by the late Kaycee Hobbes as she uncovered the secrets on the disk.”

The expansion can be unlocked on Steam by selecting Properties and entering the code “givemeascensionmode” into the Beta tab of the dialogue box. When you start the game, all you have to do is press “Shift+K+M” while on the Start screen.

But this is only the beginning for the beta. Daniel Mullins Games will be adding two more Rare Cards, two new Items, a final encounter for players who clear Challenge Level 12, and a few more logs over time.

The developer wants you to flag bugs by using a reporting feature that can be accessed by pressing “F11” at any point while playing the game. Supposing that you have opinions about the mechanics or want to debate the balancing, Daniel Mullins Games invites you to search for the appropriate channel on its Discord server.
