An insider has claimed that they have heard rumblings of Horizon Forbidden West being delayed into 2022.

As reported by VGC, GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb talked about the state of Horizon Forbidden West during his latest GrubbSnax Giant Bomb podcast. In the podcast, he states that he's heard that the game might be delayed into 2022, whilst also saying that a State of Play might be coming in September.

On the podcast, Jeff Grubb said, "I’ve heard, not certain, but I’ve heard that something’s coming in September and… I’m trying to debate if I want to be the one to say this… I think ‘that game’ is going to get delayed to 2022. I don’t know for sure, I think it’s still undecided, but I think it’s leaning towards Horizon Forbidden West in 2022. I think they’ll have a September State of Play to say, ‘here are the other things we’re going to have in the fall, here’s a bunch of exciting stuff, don’t worry’, but then I think Horizon Forbidden West is going to be 2022.”

Sony has been relatively quiet regarding Horizon Forbidden West, so a delay into 2022 probably doesn't come as much surprise. When last asked about the state of the game, PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst said that it was on track to release in 2021, but wouldn't promise that it would make that release.

Jeff Grubb says here that he's heard rumblings of a delay, and not that it's a definite thing. Grubb later commented on a post in the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, saying, "Hi, I did basically say this. I tried to clarify that this is what I'm hearing and not that it's a sure thing."

Grubb also states here that he thinks that a State of Play will happen sometime in September, likely to show off Horizon and announce that it is getting a delay. The next State of Play has been rumoured since E3, with insiders claiming that it will be focused on Final Fantasy 16.
