PlayStation has officially confirmed that Insomniac Games plans to release Spider-Man 2 in Fall 2023, which means that we've got less than a year until we get our hands on the sequel.

Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous teases that we'd be hearing something about Spider-Man 2 before the end of the year, including some vague hints from the actors behind Miles Morales and Venom, the PlayStation Store listing for the game randomly being updated out of nowhere, and an Insomniac Games writer mentioning a release window of Fall 2023 for the game on her website.

Now, in a new PlayStation Blog post highlighting some of the big titles releasing next year, PlayStation has officially confirmed a Fall 2023 release date for Spider-Man 2. We unfortunately didn't get any kind of new information or footage beyond that, but at least we know the game is still on track for next year.

The PlayStation Blog post reads, "Speaking of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, let’s kick things off with some exciting news from developer Insomniac Games confirming the release window for the web-slinging sequel. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on PS5 in fall 2023... much is still to be revealed about the game, and going off the quality of the past two titles, we’re bound to be in for a fantastic new original Spider-Man adventure."

Along with the statement from PlayStation, the blog post also contains a special message from Spider-Man 2's creative director Brian Intihar. It reads, “What a year it’s been for PlayStation Studios; here at Insomniac Games we’ve been in absolute awe of the work of our peers. Congrats to everyone on a successful 2022… and here’s to next year being just as exciting as we continue to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall.”

For those instantly heading to Google to find out when "Fall" is, it's generally accepted to be between September and November. It's worth noting that this confirmation from PlayStation doesn't guarantee that Spider-Man 2 will release then, as it could end up being delayed at some point. Still, PlayStation was pretty solid about delivering Ragnarok in the year it promised, so we'll just have to wait and see.
