If you pre-order from GameStop, you can get an exclusive Galaxy Purple edition of the upcoming Intellivision Amico.

Retro is still in for 2020, and Intellivision is here to get a piece of the action. Their upcoming Amico retro console isn’t quite the mini console we’ve come to expect, but that’s only because it comes with a pair of controllers that use the console itself as a charging dock.

Coming this October, the Amico is available in three colors: black, white, and if you order from GameStop, something that Intellivision calls “Galaxy Purple.”

The price of acquiring such a royal hue is steep, however. Normal Amicos go for $249.99, but the GameStop exclusive Galaxy Purple is 50 bucks more ($299.99). Is mere colored plastic worth a 20% increase in price? Probably not, but then again, if you were going to purchase an Amico in the first place $50 is probably not going to stop you either.

GameStop's listing promises 6 games to start, down from the 17 games that were said to come with the Amico back when the console was first announced. Those games include remastered versions of Astrosmash, Shark! Shark!, Skiing, Cornhole, Farkle, and a 6th unannounced game that might be the rumored Earthworm Jim title.

The Intellivision Amico arrives on October 10 so long as there are no COVID-19-related delays. You can pre-order your Amico from GameStop now.
