A little over a week ago, publisher 3D Realms teased the imminent release of its retro-shooter Ion Fury for consoles. Announced for consoles at the same time as its PC counterpart, fans of classic shooters were left wondering when Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison would be gracing their platforms of choice. Now, we have a better idea of when to expect her.

The publisher announced this morning that Ion Fury will be heading to PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on May 14, 2020. It will be digital-only for roughly a month before a physical version releases on June 26, 2020. No exclusive features were announced, but the Switch port will have gyroscope aiming as an option.

With the resurgence of retro FPS titles in recent years, it's never been a better time to be a fan of these classic games. The genre took a weird change once titles like Call of Duty rose to prominence, but at least things are starting to become more diverse. One can only take so much of "follow the dot" design until it becomes old hat.

With Ion Fury finally making its way to consoles, it now falls on publisher New Blood Interactive to get DUSK and Amid Evil onto Switch. I'll just keep pestering you, Dave, until it happens!
