Xbox fans might have a lot to be excited about as Microsoft is reportedly in talks to buy WB Games, in addition to EA, Take-Two Interactive, and Activision, according to The Information.

The parent company AT&T is currently looking into selling the Mortal Kombat and Batman: Arkham Knight publisher, WB Games, since last month, and this would be a huge merger for Microsoft if it decides to buy their studios and library.

Sources told CNBC that the telecommunications company would sell its games division for $4 billion in an effort to help offset its $200 billion in debt. The purchase of Warner Media was at a massive $109 billion back in 2018. Perhaps, WB Games was an afterthought.

Microsoft has recently been expanding its first-party line-up with the purchase of Double Fine Productions, Ninja Theory, inXile Entertainment, and Obsidian. As a result, Microsoft will have Psychonauts 2, Grounded, Hellblade 2, and future The Outer Worlds titles on Xbox from day 1 or as an exclusive. If The Information is correct, Microsoft might be planning to make that line-up much bigger.

WB Games would be a huge get for Microsoft and Xbox Game Pass' library. Studios like Rocksteady and WB Games Montreal, after licensing, could create DC games to compete with PlayStation Studios' Marvel titles, and Mortal Kombat from NetherRealm Studios would be a big fighting game exclusive for Xbox and PC. Travelers'batmW Tales could also continue to work on the successful LEGO games that have a foothold on the children's gaming market.

Batman Arkham Knight could be a permanent fixture on Xbox Game Pass.

In addition, WB Games could give Microsoft access to the classic Midway library with franchises like Rampage, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, and Spy Hunter.  They could remake or simply remaster these titles in a collection like Rare Replay.

There are a few unannounced projects in the near future from WB Games, including WB Montreal's new Gotham Knights title, Avalanche Software's rumored Harry Potter RPG, and RockSteady's take on the Suicide Squad. Prior to E3 2020 being canceled, WB Games was reportedly planning on announcing its upcoming titles with the company's first press conference, but those plans obviously were dashed.

Hopefully, we'll hear more soon about these games and a possible merger relatively soon, possibly at Xbox's Games Showcase on July 23rd. The former is very unlikely, however, as the merger is still on the table as far as we know.
