Stardew Valley's co-op was introduced in update 1.3, back in August 2018, allowing you team up with up to three friends on PC and console. It certainly makes watering all those crops a little easier, and you can even marry your friends, if that's what you're into.

Despite multiplayer being available on Stardew Valley PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, co-op never came to the mobile version of the game. It's probably the most requested feature and many would love to see its inclusion. Unfortunately, I have some bad news...

Stardew Valley Mobile Multiplayer

Stardew Valley on mobile won't be getting multiplayer support, by the looks of things. Even though you can team up on the portable Nintendo Switch, the mobile version of the game presents some different technical hurdles that the developer either can't solve or doesn't have the resources to solve. That means Stardew Valley mobile likely won't get multiplayer support. Ever. Here's the creator answering a fan on Twitter:

@ConcernedApe (real name: Eric Barone) usually goes out of his way to add the things the community is requesting to Stardew Valley. He's currently working on Stardew Valley update 1.5, which adds bananas and new story content, and he's even hinted at a possible Stardew Valley 2. If he's saying it's unfeasible, it's unfeasible.

While this probably isn't the news you wanted to hear, Stardew Valley is often on sale on Steam, and you can run it on most laptops - it's not the most demanding game in the world. If you can convince a couple of friends to do the same, your best option is to pick it up there and join each other for some PC-based farming.

Stardew Valley was first created as a passion project by Barone, who wanted to see a Harvest Moon-style game on PC. Since then it's taken on a life of its own, selling millions and developing a huge and loyal community. Stardew Valley is the quintessential indie success story, and one of the best indie games on the market even now, years after launch. It's worth the double-dip.
