With an arena unlike any other, decked out with moving platforms that periodically get destroyed and a pit full of spikes, staying alive in this fight is easier said than done. It's a test of patience as much as it is a test of skill.

The ClockMaker's Attacks

Islets Clockmaker Idle

There's a lot going on in this fight - more than you're used to or will ever have to get used to. Luckily, the Clockmaker doesn't have that many attacks to compensate.

Description

How To Counter

Center Spread

The ClockMaker hangs down from the ceiling for a moment before conjuring a spread of projectiles that fire out across the screen.

Try to stay away from the ClockMaker and jump to avoid any close projectiles.

Side Saw

A very large sawblade comes down on either side of the screen. It will destroy the platforms of the two columns on that side.

Head to the opposite side as soon as you can.

Dual Side Saws

Two very large sawblades come down on both sides of the screen and destroy the left and right columns.

Head to the middle as soon as you can.

Cannonball

A large cannon will appear on one side of the screen before shooting a large cannonball. Whenever it hits the ground, the cannonball will shoot projectiles up into the arena.

The best place to be for this attack is the upper corner to the opposite of the cannon, moving away from the ball when it gets near. This gives you the best chance of avoiding the projectiles.

How To Beat The ClockMaker

Islets Clockmaker Attacked

This is a tough fight. It involves a very delicate balance of offense and defense - you have a ton of hazards to avoid and no solid ground to work with, but the boss still needs to get beaten.

  • The ClockMaker has two enrage breakpoints, at roughly a third and two-thirds of his health bar. These do not add any new attacks, but they will increase the speed of his moves.
  • Luckily, his attack pattern is predictable.
    • The Cannonball attack comes out after every Side Saw attack without fail.
    • If you see the ClockMaker in the middle of the screen, you know a Center Spread is coming.
  • If you can master his attack pattern, the fight comes down to luck - you need the moving platforms to be in good spots to whittle the boss' health down, as getting too greedy with your attacks is going to get you killed by stray projectiles.
  • The key to this fight is staying calm and focusing on staying alive. Make good use of your bow when you're too far away from the ClockMaker to hit him with your sword, and only go in for a melee attack when you can do so safely.
