Beyond Good and Evil 2 may easily be one of this generation's most anticipated game sequels. Even as the new console releases approach, many are still wildly excited for the follow-up to the 2003 classic. Yet, not much has been heard about Beyond Good and Evil 2 since the game's initial 2017 announcement.

At the very least, it is likely (but uncertain) that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be releasing sometime in 2020. In a year chock-full of big releases, as well as the introduction of the next generation of consoles with the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is nonetheless heading our way.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 does have a dedicated website that features lots of community interaction, as well as news about the game. The development team behind Beyond Good and Evil 2 appears very open to suggestions and the opinions of the community, and the idea behind its Space Monkey Program is to get fans involved in the development process. For instance, in addition to direct interaction with the development team, Space Monkeys can send in art and music that will be put right in the game.

The dev team's dedication to its fans in integrating their content is a neat idea. And interestingly, if one decides to enlist in the Space Monkey Program, they will be told that the game platforms of Beyond Good and Evil 2 have yet to be "defined" but are asked what their preferred platform is between the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. While unlikely, this could mean that Beyond Good and Evil 2 may be a platform exclusive, though it also could signify that it will land on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at some point.

It is also noted on the website that the game will enter a beta phase at some point.

Occasionally, the dev team will hold livestreams that demonstrate some new facet of the game. Most recently, this included the added character customization feature. However, the website reflects the fact that we won't be able to enjoy these features for an indefinite period of time by indicating the lack of a release date.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is seemingly well into development. However, it is now about two and a half years after the game's announcement and no word has since been heard on it. Hopefully, at the very least, E3 2020 will bring us news on the game, if not something sooner.
