Gaming insider Tom Henderson has claimed that we're going to see more of the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Need for Speed series in 2022, with both expected to return later this year.
To begin with, let's dive into some Need for Speed plans. Criterion took over the series soon after Heat launched back in 2019, and yet again ended up falloing short of the publisher's expectations. The Gothenburg-based developer Ghost Games was later shut down due to being unable to attract enough talent to Sweden to continue its work on the racing games.
According to Tom Henderson, "EA is expecting Need for Speed by Criterion Games to release in September/October 2022." The next installment of the iconic racing series was delayed to 2022 last year, as Criterion needed to assist with the development of Battlefield 2042. As a result, the progress on Need For Speed had to be paused for several months, but it's back on track now for the finish line this fall.
As for the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, which hasn't even been officially announced yet, it has a very good chance of launching before the end of 2022, too. "Things are set in motion to reveal the next Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order game by Respawn Entertainment," Henderson wrote that it is "expected to release Q4 2022." This usually means between October and December.
Earlier EA confirmed it will continue "investing" in the Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order games, which is no surprise given the success of the original. Reporter Jeff Grubb also hinted we would "hear about the [sequel] in a significant way before E3." He said Respawn has a tentative release date of late 2022, but those plans might slip into 2023.
Of course, not every anticipated title from Electronic Arts is ready to hit shelves this year. Henderson revealed Dragon Age 4 has "no chance" to launch in 2022, despite being in development for over six years now. Naturally, all the above is unconfirmed at the moment, so take it with a pinch of salt.
