Jett: The Far Shore is an upcoming sci-fi exploration adventure game where you fly around on an alien planet trying to avoid being eaten by giant dragonflies, so it's only natural that Jett's soundtrack provides an epic and mysterious backdrop to your fast-paced exploration. And if you're into that sort of music, you'll be happy to note that you'll be able to buy Jett's soundtrack the same day as the game.

Superbrothers has just announced that the Jett soundtrack will be available on October 5. You can download the album on the Jett website, or you can get it on scntfc's Bandcamp. Or you can buy it on the Epic Games Store, Apple Music, Spotify, or wherever else you can stream music.

If I were to categorize what Jett: The Far Shore sounds like, it'd be "grand space drama." Think orchestral strings and horns backed up by modern sound effects and the occasional vocals provided by Priscilla Snow.

You can head to Superbrothers' YouTube page for a 15-minute sample, titled "Soak in Brine." As the name implies, the music starts with the unmistakable sound of crashing waves, introducing you to Jett's water-bound world.

As for the game itself, Jett: The Far Shore puts you in control of Mei, an aerial science explorer who pilots a Jett scout to collect data on the alien inhabitants of a recently-discovered ocean world. Along the way, she'll need to user her Jett's flashlight and grappling hook to avoid some of the more dangerous denizens of the planet while keeping her scanner attuned to a mysterious "hymnwave" signal.

Unlike most space exploration games, Jett is all about avoiding fights rather than violently engaging with the locals. There’s also no resource extraction or survival elements--it’s just you, your Jett, and a compelling world to explore.

Jett: The Far Shore arrives on PlayStation 4, 5, and PC via the Epic Games Store on October 5.
