The MCU is a multiverse now which means nothing is off limits. Characters can return from the dead, and even some of the actors who appeared in Netflix's Marvel shows are coming back. Charlie Cox will return to the role of Daredevil in Disney Plus's Born Again, and he may well be joined by John Bernthal's Punisher.Tom Smith revealed via KC Walsh and Charles Murphy (thanks, Dexerto) that Bernthal is rumored to be popping his skull embossed costume back on for the Daredevil series. Walsh and Murphy are known within superhero fan circles for being pretty reliable when it comes to information like this. It also comes off the back of the belief that Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones would be making a cameo in She-Hulk.RELATED: Daredevil's 18 Episodes Are A Good ThingApparently that cameo would have been the first building block on which Jones' full return to the Marvel landscape would be built. Don't go waiting for her to appear in the final few episodes of She-Hulk, though. Ritter's schedule didn't line up with the MCU show's production so she probably won't be in it. That means no establishing her in preparation for Born Again, hence the decision to bring Bernthal in instead.

“They needed another Netflix star to fill the role. It’s Jon Bernthal,” Smith tweeted, adding that Ritter might still make a cameo appearance in the 18-episode first season of Daredevil: Born Again. If the Punisher actor is returning to the role, it will be the first time Bernthal has played the anti-hero since The Punisher's second and final season aired on Netflix in January 2019.

Born Again will start filming sometime in 2023, by which point it might become clearer who exactly from the Netflix shows will returning for MCU roles. Ritter and Bernthal seem to be almost nailed on for returns at this point having become a question of when rather than if. Iron Fist and Luke Cage, on the other hand, might not be in Disney's plans.
