The change everyone was asking for, Jurassic World Evolution 2 allows players can get their hands on marine dinosaurs. While most dinosaurs aren't what you'd call beautiful, the camera work and shots you can get underwater more than make up for it. Gliding through the massive water lagoons and following the slick and unique mechanics for every species.

While there isn't an expansive variety of dinosaurs to choose from, Evolution 2 made sure to include a lot of diversity in the ones it did pick. If the original was anything to go off, the developers are hard at work patching in even more species for players to use. From leaping giants to swift hunters, the ever changing environment makes for some of the most fun in the entire game. Here are all the options.

7 Mosasaurus

marine dinosaurs

The Mosasaurus is one of the most popular marine dinosaurs, mainly because of its role in the Jurassic Park franchise, becoming the star attraction in the later movies. Not only was it the main show for visitors, it also ended up being a hero for everyone in the park, launching itself out of the habitat and taking out the opposing Indominus Rex.

One of the largest marine dinosaurs, the Mosasaurus comes in at 55 feet, making it the biggest species in its family. Not only is it one of the flashiest dinosaurs to have in your park, it's also one of the few that can back up its intimidating appearance.

6 Attenborosaurus

underwater long neck

The king of its environment, that is until the Mosasaurus came around, the Attenborosaurus now sticks to hunting fish and cephalopods. Despite its long neck and imposing presence, Attenborosaurus was usually 16 feet in length, making it significantly smaller than other giants lurking in the deep. What it lacks in size it makes up for in surprising speed, gliding through the water and taking out its miniature prey in one fell swoop.

Unlike the great majority of dinosaurs in Evolution 2, Attenborosaurus hasn't ever appeared in the franchise before, making its debut in this game. For the first time, players are going to be able to see and control one of the fastest dinosaurs around. Now that similar species can get into altercations, keeping and healing the Attenborosarus is going to be key to its survival.

5 Elasmosaurus

marine dinosaur

The Elasmosaurus comes in with a significantly lengthier body than other Plesiosaurs, mostly due to its giant neck that extends far beyond other members of the family. Its neck was so long that it could only lift its head up out of the water, not exactly an athletic specimen. The dragon-like facial features and horned skull give it a devilish look that can attract crowds with the right skin.

Even though it hasn't appeared in any of the main movies, the Elasmosaurus has shown up in multiple Jurassic Park games. The 43 foot body is half made up of its head and neck alone, making it an obvious target for feuding marine dinosaurs or those that want to take it out of the habitat altogether. Anything short of a Mesosaurus should be a safe bet, only leaving it with a few battle scars.

4 Ichthyosaurus

icthyosaurus

Whether you find it cute or creepy, this Triassic dolphin is going to come in packs. While it can survive by itself if you isolate it as a youngster, Ichthyosaurs are the most effective when hunting in groups, using their extreme speed to block off schools of Shoal. Given its mere six feet in length, a group setting is the only place they can realistically survive amongst the other dinosaurs.

Be careful not to overpopulate the tank though, as they can easily turn against each other, especially when there's not enough food to go around. Unless you plan on keeping an Ichthyosaur exclusive tank, this delicate species needs careful monitoring, even the lower marine dinosaurs can pose issues to this miniature hunter.

3 Liopleurodon

liopleurodon - marine dinosaur

The biggest size correction in dinosaur history, the Liopleurodon was massively oversized in the show ''Walking With Dinosaurs'' and made everyone believe it was even bigger than the Mosasaurus. The release of the more accurate model leaves it at less than 20 feet in length, something that doesn't stop it from being one of the best looking dinosaurs in the game.

Even though it can't compete for the very top of the food chain, Liopleurodons have a great selection of patterns and design in-game that make it a great aesthetic choice. They're also no slouch when it comes to hunting, using that alligator-like jaw to take out small-medium sized prey. Despite the mean appearance, these dinosaurs can live in large populations as long as they're well fed without too much issue.

2 Plesiosaurus

plesiosaurus

Another marine reptile on the smaller side of things, the Plesiosaurus has the most passive look out of the entire lineup. Instead of horned armor or sharpened teeth, this placid creature prefers to relax close to the surface and eat fish. Having to breathe air regularly, this puts them at a significant risk if they run into some of the more active dinosaurs on the list.

Even its name means ''near lizard'' because of its close resemblance to modern day reptiles, specifically a water snake. Reaching only 11 feet in length, you won't need a large lagoon to pack a few of these in, especially if you're well equipped with fish delivery systems for hunting.

1 Tylosaurus

marine dinosaur

It may not be the biggest dinosaur in the lagoon, but the Tylosaurus' attitude more than makes up for what it lacks in size. That's not to say it's small by any means, coming in at just ten feet below the giant Mosasaurus. Any other species you put in the tank with this dinosaur will be at risk, it has an aggressive and territorial streak that extends even to its own kind.

More than one can create a real issue, even for the Mosasaurus, so be careful with where you place this tyrant. The Tylosaurus does offer some gorgeous patterns and colors that almost make up for its nasty nature, bringing in attention and complimenting an already successful show nicely.
