The gamers of the world need to prepare to have their breath taken twice as much in 2020, as Keanu Reeves was so fond of his role in the game that he pushed to receive double the screen time than what was initially planned.

Keanu Reeves' involvement in Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed at E3 2019 with a memorable appearance by the actor himself during the Microsoft presentation. Reeves is playing a character named Johnny Silverhand, who will have a major role in the story of the game. Reeves has lent both his voice and appearance to the role. It has been revealed that Johnny Silverhand has the most lines of any NPC in the game and that Reeves spent fifteen days recording all of them.

It seems that Johnny Silverhand's role in Cyberpunk 2077 was expanded upon by the request of Reeves himself. According to WCCFTechReeves' longtime Italian dub artist Luca Ward was interviewed by TGCOM 24 at a convention and the question of Cyberpunk 2077 came up. According to Ward, Reeves was having so much fun with his role that he asked for it to be expanded, leading to Johnny Silverhand's dialogue being doubled and both Reeves (and Ward) needing to spend a lot more time recording audio for the game.

Keanu Reeves (Famous Actor Not Personality)

Johnny Silverhand is an important character in the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG series and it appears that he will be the most significant NPC in Cyberpunk 2077. Silverhand was both a rock star and a folk hero, but he was believed to have been killed in battle, even though his body was never found. It's possible that the version of Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077 is just a projection of the original person who may have long since perished.

The fact that CD Projekt Red brought Reeves on board when he is at his hottest following the success of the John Wick franchise shows how important the role has to be in the game. The fact that Reeves spent fifteen days recording dialogue for the character means that fans will get all of the Silverhand they could ever need when Cyberpunk 2077 is released in 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 16, 2020.
