At the end of Kena: Bridge of Spirits, you're given a new ability. By this point, you'll have learned how to summon a shield to deflect or parry attacks. It's a nifty use of your blue spiritual magic. However, to get through to the spirit realm, you need to learn how to dash.
You do so by tapping a button while having the shield up, darting you ahead at a rapid pace. The old man at the Mask Shrine teaches you how. This marks the final ability being notched onto your belt. You're a real spirit guide now. But, that means tougher enemies.
At the end of the game, you're also introduced to a new enemy type — ghosts. Or spirits, phantoms, Casper if he wasn't so friendly — whatever you want to call them, they're apparitions that cannot be hit. But, you have to kill them to progress. Tricky, aye? There are two ways to make them vulnerable so don't fret. Here's how you can do it.
You Can Dash Into Ghosts
You got a new ability and a new enemy — video game logic dictates that you try one on the other, right? Well, in this case, yes. Dashing into a ghost stuns them, leaving them open to attack.
It also knocks them out of their corporeal form, turning them into normal enemies. It's a double whammy, so get your licks in and give 'em a good walloping.
You Can Parry Ghosts
The shield seems tied to thwarting the effort of these ghosts. Not only does it block their attacks and open the door to dashing into them, but the shield-based parry knocks ghosts into their normal forms.
You could feasibly parry one ghost and dash into another, making for some intriguing paranormal combo-wombos. There are a few to be found in the various trials at the end of the game, so don't let them gang up on you and kick you to the curb without you being able to fight back. Give 'em what for and use your shield to dust off their spiritual transparency.
