Famous American actor, Adam Sandler, has announced another new movie under his own production company Happy Madison Production, with none other than Kevin James. James is to play Coach Sean Payton for the New Orleans Saints.
Sandler is popular for his comedic characters and roles, and his own produced films do not stray far from this genre. Among Sandler's close friends is Kevin James, who is also very well known for his witty characters in the movies such as Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009), Grown Ups (2010), and The King of Queens (1998-2007). James is set to play the role of Sean Payton, the famous football coach for the New Orleans Saints, and former player in the National Football League. The movie is titled Home Team, and it is inspired and based on Payton's life and his experiences. The upcoming Netflix movie highlights the time when Sean Payton was suspended from his NFL coach duties due to his involvement in a bounty scandal. During this suspension period, he provided his services and volunteered as an assistant coach for his young son Connor's school football team in Dallas called the Warriors. James will be shown as Payton - reevaluating his life choices and working to become a better coach.
The movie idea was pitched by Sean Payton's own daughter, Meghan Payton, who is a sports reporter. She is dating Adam Sandler's brother-in-law, who was able to get the movie proposal to the award-winning producer. When in 2012 Sean was laid off temporarily, he marked his time as his son's coach as 'fulfilling'. The announcements of this movie had some rival fans making fun of the coach, and how James was to play Payton, to which the Saints were quick to reply with calling him as 'The King of Beating Atlanta' indicating the time the Saints beat Falcons in 2020.
Kevin James has some huge shoes to fill, as he'll have to work awfully hard to pull off this role - same goes for Adam Sandler as the producer. Some film fanatics have called the producer and his movies 'old', and expect something 'fresh' from him', while some are already over the idea of this movie, labelling it as 'garbage'. Sandler's movies may have been popular and people's favorite in the past but now, considering the new generation and their altered sense of humor, he has to put in effort to make this project of his sell. The filming for Home Team begins later this year.
