The gaming world has been shaken to its core, as some of the most requested Super Smash Bros. characters of all time have finally been confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in a new Direct that was revealed today.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct opened with Luigi exploring Dracula's Castle, only to be saved by Simon Belmont. It was later revealed that Richter Belmont is also joining the game as Simon's Echo Fighter, with the changes between the two being mostly aesthetic.

The Belmonts use their trademark whip in battle, which has a long reach at the cost of being slow and leaving them open to counters. They also possess access to the sub-weapons from the Castlevania series, such as the Axe, Cross, Holy Water, and Uppercut.

Dracula's Castle will also appear as a stage in the game, with numerous Castlevania creatures appearing as boss encounters, including Death, Carmilla, and Dracula himself.

Castlevania isn't the only series receiving new characters, as Chrom & Dark Samus will also be appearing as Echo Fighters.

Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening is an Echo Fighter of Roy and his presence has been teased since the last Super Smash Bros. game. He will be joined by Dark Samus from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The trailer didn't break down the exact changes. between the original characters and the Echo Fighters, but there are definitive differences between some of their moves.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct closed with the announcement of King K. Rool from the Donkey Kong Country series as a brand new character, adding another villain to the game.

The King K. Rool announcement was saved for the end of the Direct, so we weren't given a proper breakdown of the character, but he seems to be another heavy-hitter in the vein of Bowser and Donkey Kong. King K. Rool also has access to several ranged attacks, including using his blunderbuss and throwing his crown like a boomerang.

King K. Rool has been heavily requested by fans for years, with led to a negative reaction when a costume of King K. Rool was added as a Mii Fighter outfit to the last Super Smash Bros. game. The fans wanted the real deal and now they have him, in his all of his glory.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct showed a blurred out menu that Sakurai promised would be revealed at a later date. This means that there are almost certainly going to be more character and Echo Fighter reveals going forward.

It seems like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is going to live up to its name with all of these fan favorite choices for new additions to the series. December can't get here quick enough.
