King of Fighters 15 doesn't launch until February, but you can get a sneak peek at the next iteration of this longstanding fighting franchise by taking part in an open beta test this weekend.

The test is only on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, so everyone else will have to be patient. The test will run from November 19 at 7 PM PST to November 22 at 6:59 AM PST. Cross-gen play will be enabled, and you'll be able to find the beta test on the PlayStation storefront.

As this is a technical beta, not everything to be featured in the official launch will be playable, but you'll have a good selection of game modes and characters. For online play, you'll be able to do Casual Match to match against a random player, or Room Match to fight against a friend. In single-player, you'll be able to do quick Versus matches or take part in some Training after doing the tutorial. Playable characters will include Dolores, Shun’ei, Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, Chizuru Kagura, Yashiro Nanakase, Shermie, and Chris.

SNK is mostly concerned with how KofF15's net code handles traffic and has pointed out how to determine your ping against other players. In the pre-match screen, you'll be able to see a "level" score beside your name. Level 5 means a ping of between 0-19 ms, while Level 1 is a ping of over 90 ms. You'll also be able to see the number of rollback frames in the upper part of the screen during a match, which will tell you the stability of your connection.

Strangely, SNK wants player feedback to come in the form of tweets using the hashtags #kofxvobt or #kof15obt. Please include your connection level and a description of whatever issue you run into. There are already several known issues, including desyncs while throwing during heavy rollback. Keep in mind, your save data will not transfer over when the final game launches.

SNK said there might be more beta tests ahead of the February 17 launch, so stay tuned.
