A new trailer for the long awaited and highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III was finally released. The fully orchestrated trailer provides an in depth look at gameplay and fighting mechanics. There are even a few cutscenes that offer a small glimpse of the story.
The new trailer is just one in a long line for Kingdom Hearts III. Its predecessor, Kingdom Hearts II, initially launched back in 2005. Sony first announced Kingdom Hearts III back in 2013, but nothing concrete was released. All they said was that the game was in development. There is still no release date for Kingdom Hearts III. However, the new trailer looks promising.
Square Enix just released the youtube trailer a few days ago. It begins with a line of text reading: “Don’t assume your dreams are just fantasy. If you can imagine a world, believe in it… and dive in.” From there, it fades into a shot of the series protagonist, Sora, falling from the sky. A small line of text notes that all of the visuals seen in the video are from an unfinished build and are subject to change. The trailer focuses solely on the Olympus Coliseum. However, it provides a fantastic glimpse at special attacks and combos that can be utilized during battle. It even offers fans a couple small cutscene with a handful of recurring villains including Maleficent, Hades, Pete, and Organization XIII. The trailer hints at “mysterious black boxes” that appear in the various worlds. Additionally, Sora and friends are trying to bring Roxas back, but it may require Sora to tap into a dark power. The one downside to the trailer is that, while the text is in English, all the voice acting is in Japanese. Thankfully, there are English subtitles available.
Although this will be the ninth mainline title in the series, it is the first direct continuation of Kingdom Hearts II. Fans of the series have waited a long time for the game, but it looks like their wait may be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Square Enix promises that a new trailer featuring a new world will premiere on July 15 at the D23 Expo.
