THQ Nordic has uploaded a new trailer for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, the long-awaited remaster of the failed 2012 action-RPG. Given a raw deal by EA back on the PS3 and Xbox 360, a lot of people fell in love with the combat system, but sales couldn't compete with the insane budget the game had. The history of its development is a different story, though, and today we're here to look at how things are shaping up.

In the original game, players were able to tackle multiple different playstyles. These took the form of "Might," "Sorcery," and "Finesse." The new trailer shows off Finesse and reveals a stealthier approach to combat. It's not anything that veteran fans will be surprised by, but the visuals have actually come out quite nicely. This has a very World of Warcraft vibe to it with a lot of color and depth.

It may not be an especially long trailer, but more than enough has been written about Kingdoms of Amalur over the years. Having only played the demo nearly a decade ago, I remember being somewhat impressed and excited for the final release. Then things came and went without much of a peep while the state of Rhode Island fell into bankruptcy. It's kind of a ridiculous story.

Still, it's great that THQ Nordic is giving this IP a second chance. Fans will even get the opportunity to experience new content as a DLC expansion titled Fatesworn will be released sometime in 2021. You can grab the standard edition of this remaster for $39.99 or get a bundle with the DLC included for $54.99. It will launch on September 8, 2020, for PC (via Steam), PS4, and Xbox One.
