Kirby's Dream Buffet will launch August 17 in Japan for 1,500 yen (around £10).

A few months ago, Nintendo surprised Kirby fans with a brand new spin-off game, Kirby's Dream Buffet, which looked like a cross between Kirby's Canvas Curse and Fall Guys. We only received a short announcement trailer for it at the time, but a release date and price has just been announced for Japan during Kirby's 30th Anniversary Music Fest.

Around an hour into Kirby's 30th Anniversary Music Fest, a few special announcements were made for Kirby fans. The biggest of these is that Kirby's Dream Buffet will be releasing on August 17 in Japan for 1,500 yen, which is around £10. A new gameplay trailer was also showcased during the concert, which reveal that Kirby will be able to swallow food to turn into different forms, essentially acting as his copy abilities.

A few different forms were shown off during the concert, including a cupcake, bar of chocolate, and slime versions of Kirby, to name a few. The cupcake version of Kirby can spin around in a circle, while the gummy Kirby seems to be able to race along a bit faster, acting as some kind of speed boost. We'll take food copy abilities for every Kirby game going forward, thanks.

Nintendo hasn't yet confirmed that Kirby's Dream Buffet will launch on August 17 outside of Japan, but it seems likely that it'll be a simultaneous release, as the studio's various Twitter accounts seem to have been teasing Dream Buffet news over the past few days.

That wasn't the only announcement to be found at the concert, either, as it was also revealed that Kirby: Right Back At Ya! will be getting a Blu-Ray release for the first time in Japan this Winter. It wasn't confirmed whether anywhere other than Japan would be getting the re-release, but it might be announced later today when Dream Buffet gets an official release date trailer outside of the concert.
