Not sure about picking up Kirby Fighters 2, or uncertain what the heck it even is? Then you're in luck – Nintendo just released a demo on the eShop, letting you try out the first chapter of the story and experience a bit of the multiplayer mayhem.

The full game has over 15 playable fighters, but for the demo you'll be restricted to just four. You can also dip your toes into the local and online multiplayer modes. Having access to the entire first chapter of Story Mode is the biggest reason to try out the demo, however, as it'll give you a taste of what you can expect if you decide to pick up the full game.

Kirby Fighters 2 is a bit like Super Smash Bros, in that you're competing on a 2D stage with frenetic, fast-paced combat. It's not as elaborate as Smash – and definitely doesn't have the same sort of fanfare – but it's a fun fighting game if you're looking for something with a bit less nuance. Fans of Kirby are sure to enjoy it, and fighting enthusiasts will too – just don't expect a deep experience.

Kirby Fighters 2 is available on the Nintendo eShop for $19.99. If you're not convinced it's worth a purchase, you can now download a free demo.
