Kirby's beautiful pink face has been all over the place recently. The puffball's first-ever 3D adventure launched on Nintendo Switch two weeks ago has finally managed to steal some of the video game attention away from Elden Ring. Kirby And The Forgotten Land has been number one in the UK boxed chart since it launched and is already the fourth best-selling Kirby game ever in that territory. Pretty good going for what is one of Nintendo's less recognized IPs.

This week, Kirby is floating into your Monday morning with some more good news. The pink protagonist is now a Grammy Award winner. Well, sort of. The Grammy was actually awarded to an ensemble known as The 8-Bit Big Band. As reported by The Verge, 8-Bit Big Band's Charlie Rosen and Jake Silverman were bestowed with a Grammy for their rendition of a song from Kirby's past.

The Grammy was for the best arrangement, instrumental, or acapella version of a song, and the song was Meta Knight's Revenge. A track those of you who played Kirby Super Star on the SNES might well be familiar with. A timely win even though Nintendo isn't directly connected to the project due to the ongoing success of The Forgotten Land, in which Meta Knight does indeed return.

Video game songs winning Grammy Awards isn't very common. In fact, this is the first time it has happened since 2011 when Civilization 4's Baba Yetu took one home. Meta Knight's Revenge also isn't the only video game track The 8-Bit Big Band has covered, as the name of the up to 65-person arrangement might suggest. The band has previously covered tracks from The Legend Of Zelda, Super Mario 64, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

As for the Kirby games, what's next for the now-3D hero remains unclear. Developers of The Forgotten Land have revealed they previously thought Kirby was too round to ever be in three dimensions. The success of The Forgotten Land likely means Kirby will return to a 3D world in the future. The same team hasn't ruled out returning to 2D games in the future either. Needless to say, we definitely haven't seen the last of Kirby.
