Red Dead Redemption has been one of the best translations of the Western to gaming, so it's only natural to find a video starring Game of Thrones actor Kit Harrington starring in what appears to be a concept trailer for a movie adaptation of the title.

The original Red Dead Redemption was well received, and Rockstar centered the game on the adventures of John Marston. Red Dead Redemption 2 is likely more well known by modern gamers, and was a sensational success - famously earning more than $700 million in its opening weekend. Despite being several years past launch, the game has frequently enjoyed the top spot on Metacritic for PS4 and Xbox One, and has comfortably held onto 5th overall. Red Dead Online is the multiplayer companion to Red Dead Redemption 2 and has been a consistently vibrant community since release.

Upon watching the trailer from Smasher above, two things become clear. First of all, there's no way that Warner Brothers is behind this concept trailer, but it's a nice touch all the same. It also appears that for those Brimstone fans out there, or those who have already seen the WeGotThisCovered coverage, these are repurposed clips from Kit’s western movie. Mixed in with a little movie magic and cinematics, and it looks like an authentic video game adaptation to live movie. It also doesn’t hurt that Kit Harrington happens to look a little bit like the main character from the first Red Dead Redemption.

So what is this, exactly? This is a concept, lovingly created by a fan to show that one of the highest-grossing games of all time could realistically and authentically hit the big screen, with big names, and may have a gigantic fan base already cooked in. Whether they are Game of Thrones fans, Kit Harrington fans, Red Dead Redemption fans, or even just Rockstar fans, there are plenty of wells to tap into for this concept that could potentially yield significant returns.

Smasher - we salute you, this is exciting, hopefully Kit Harrington’s agent is watching.
