There may still be life in the Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic remake yet. It has been revealed today that despite the game's previously indefinite delay, Embracer has handed off its development to another one of its studios, Saber Interactive, and despite the turmoil, no delays to KOTOR's arrival are expected. The news comes courtesy of Embracer's Q1 2022 report, in which it details a triple-A title's development being moved from one studio to another. “One of the Group’s triple-A projects has transitioned to another studio within the Group. This was done to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title,” the report reads. “We are not expecting any material delays for the title based on this transition.”RELATED: Star Wars KOTOR 2 Deserves Better Than A Dodgy Switch PortAlthough the game nor the studios are mentioned by name, as you can see in the tweet below, it is indeed KOTOR being referenced in Embracer's report. What's more, the new studio to have taken the Star Wars remake's reigns is Saber Interactive. Saber has been helping Aspyr with the remake since earlier this year, but now appears to be in full control of the game's fate.

That fate seemed very much up in the air less than a month ago when Bloomberg's Jason Schreier revealed the KOTOR remake had been delayed indefinitely. That was coupled with the news that the indefinite delay had been brought about, in part, by the abrupt firing of two of the game's directors. The whole situation reportedly came out of the blue to those at Aspyr working on the project. They were tasked with showing Sony and Lucasfilm a “vertical slice” of what they had so far, and the two entities were unhappy with what they saw.

That led to the search for new development opportunities, and three weeks later, those opportunities have landed at the feet of Saber. A good year for KOTOR fans back on track after a game-breaking bug in the sequel's Switch port has been fixed. As for the remake, there's currently no word on when that not-delayed release date will be.
