If you're looking to find out more about Death Stranding, you're in luck. A new look at the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive is set to premiere at this year's Gamescom event.
The Game Awards producer Geoff Keighley revealed on Twitter that Hideo Kojima will make an appearance during Keighley's Opening Night Live broadcast to show off some new footage. The broadcast will air on August 19, ahead of the proper Gamescom event itself, which will take place from August 21-24. You'll be able to stream the broadcast "around the world across all major platforms."
It's currently not known what exactly will be shown, but Keighley has promised Kojima will debut an "exclusive new look" at the highly anticipated title. The last new footage of Death Stranding was shown back in May earlier this year, when a lengthy release date trailer dropped showcasing plenty of gameplay and characters.
Kojima recently revealed he chose Mads Mikkelsen over Keanu Reeves to star in Death Stranding. Reeves was reportedly the name originally pitched to Kojima, but the creator is apparently a much bigger fan of Mikkelsen's work on the Hannibal TV series. Kojima also reportedly opted to alter the game's script, making Mikkelsen's character Cliff a heavy smoker due to Mikkelsen's own personal habit. The game's multiplayer will also be 100 percent cooperative. Instead of players competing against each other, they'll be working together similar to the Dark Souls franchise.
Death Stranding is set to launch on November 8 exclusively on PS4. But even with the game just months away from its release date, there is still not much that's currently known about Kojima's ambitious project. Getting another proper look at the game before its launch will excite fans, as well as those who still have doubts and questions about the title. While you patiently wait for new information, check out this preview of Nicolas Winding Refn's character Heartman.
Keighley's Opening Night Live stream will also feature several other game developers/publishers and creators, who will all debut new footage of their upcoming games. Some of these publishers include Bungie, Capcom, Ubisoft, Xbox Game Studios, Square Enix, and 2K.
