Konami has announced that it will be releasing three collections to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

We recently reported that Konami had the name Castlevania Anniversary Collection rated in Australia. However, it turns out that Castlevania wasn't the only series receiving an anniversary collection, as Konami has announced a range of three collections - Arcade Classics, Castlevania Anniversary Collection, and Contra Anniversary Collection.

The first game that will be released in the Konami anniversary collection is Arcade Classics, which is bundle made up of eight Konami arcade games - Haunted Castle, Typhoon (A-JAX), Nemesis (Gradius), Vulcan Venture (Gradius II), Life Force (Salamander), Thunder Cross, Scramble, and TwinBee.

The Castlevania Anniversary Collection only has four games announced so far - Castlevania, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, and Super Castlevania IV.

The Contra Anniversary Collection also only has four games announced at the moment - Contra, Super Contra, Super C, and Contra III: The Alien Wars.

All three collections will also come with a digital "Bonus Book," which is an eBook that will contain information about each game, along with interviews with the developers and never before seen concept art.

The three collections will be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam, and Xbox One. The surprising thing about the games being released on so many platforms is that all of the announced games for the Castlevania and Contra collections were released on Nintendo consoles (with the exception of Super Contra), which means that gamers will be able to play NES and SNES games on their PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

There are still eight games yet to be announced for the Castlevania and Contra collections. It's unlikely that Castlevania: Rondo of Blood or Symphony of the Night will appear in the Castlevania collection, as they were recently sold as part of the PlayStation 4-exclusive Castlevania Requiem title. The Castlevania and Contra games that have appeared on Sega systems seem like a given, but they still leave several slots open for other games. It will be interesting to see which Castlevania and Contra games make the cut.

The Arcade Classics collection will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam, and Xbox One on April 18, 2019. The Castlevania Anniversary Collection and Contra Anniversary Collection are due to be released in early summer 2019.
