Better start picking your factions, because it looks like The Last of Us Part II's multiplayer is making a return after all, though not as anticipated - and that's a good thing. With the sequel already spanning across two discs, it's safe to assume that this upcoming project will be more than enough to keep fans busy for a while - or at least until the real outbreak occurs.

Naughty Dog continues to excite its fanbase with a message of hope: multiplayer will return as its very own entity. The single-player mode of The Last of Us clearly overshadowed the massive draw that was its online counterpart, Factions, and, despite this overshadowing, the PVP mode still has a large number of players to this day, despite its technical issues.

According to Vaugn Williams, a Factions competitive player: "The community is essentially split down the middle on how Factions should be played. Is it a stealth campy game of hiding in strategic areas to surprise players, or is it a team-based game where players need to coordinate and strategize?" Given previous games, such as both Uncharted 3 and 4's online modes, not to mention The Last of Us and its own original take on PVP, there is a reason why fans are so excited about what lies beyond Part II.

With a February release, every fan has their eyes peeled on what Naughty Dog has in store for the future. However, some fans might be more excited for the multiplayer now.

The newest trailer, which was shown at PlayStation's State of Play provides more details on the nature of the new story and shows us how angry Ellie can become. The Last of Us Part II sports a whole new cast of characters, from a new love interest for Ellie to even more vile foes. T

The Last of Us Part II will launch on February 21, 2020, and if that's not enough, there's a lot more on the horizon for the franchise.
