One of the newest characters introduced in Part II is Owen Moore, Abby's complexing love-interest and a fellow member of the Washington Liberation Front. The following list contains 9 facts about our favorite ladykiller, and significant spoilers, too!

10 Owen Was Born After the Outbreak

According to his looks and his puppy love relationship with Abby, it's estimated that Owen was somewhat between 22 to 24 years old at the time of his death. That means he was born between 2014-2016, while the Outbreak caused by the Cordyceps Brain Infection happened in 2013.

Several months later, the lethal infection has swept over 60% of the world's population, and two of them are Sarah, Joel's daughter, and Anna, Ellie's mother. The infection has at least four different stages, all we know, sequentially, as the Runners, the Stalkers, the Clickers, and the Bloaters.

9 Owen Was a Skillful Artist

Growing up, Owen became an optimistic figure. While there isn't so much information that can be dug out from his path nor his family, Owen had invested a vast amount of time in drawing and artistry, thus making him a good artist. It's proved by the time he made a beautiful charcoal sketch of Abby sleeping and gave it to her.

"I've tried to draw you sleeping, but these damn hands just can't capture your mesmerizing beauty. Had fun yesterday. Let's do it again," Owen wrote. "Your "uber goober," Owen."

8 Owen's Motion-Capture Artist Has a Pretty Solid Portfolio; Hence You've Probably Saw Him Somewhere

If Owen Moore's face and voice-likeness seem familiar, chances are either a generic face or a recognizable figure on numerous movies & series.

Patrick Fugit, the Salt Lake City-based actor who brought Owen's character to life, was previously known for his work on Almost Famous (2000), White Oleander (2002), and Wristcutters: A Love Story (2006). He's also a regular and the main protagonist on Cinemax's supernatural series, Outcast, where he portrayed Kyle Barnes and earned himself a Fangoria Chainsaw Awards nomination in 2017 for his brilliant performance.

7 Like Every Member of the 'Salt Lake Crew,' Owen Was a Former Firefly

The Washington Liberation Front might not be that welcoming to strangers, but their bloodthirsty leader, Isaac Dixon, had let some of the newcomers in, including Owen and co. Before joining the Wolves, Owen, Abby, Mel, Manny, and almost every known Wolves you've encountered throughout the journey were valuable members of the Fireflies militia group. Their number-one slogan is, "When you're lost in the darkness, look for the light."

The bad news is, the group has been disbanded ever since Joel almost swiped their entire St. Mary Hospital base clean, and the good news is, some remaining members are regrouping in Santa Barbara.

6 Back in the Days, Owen Used to Act "Extra Nice" Towards Abby's Father

At some point back in their Firefly days, Owen and Abby were involved in a romantic relationship. Like what the rest of us do, Owen would do his best to act friendly towards Abby's father, Dr. Jerry Anderson, who served as the lead surgeon of the group. Owen took orders from him, and he was always nervous whenever he had to.

Together with Jerry and Abby, Owen helped set a stuck zebra free from the barbed wires, and it happened just a couple of moments before Ellie and Joel showed up in the tunnels near their St. Mary Hospital base.

5 Why Did Owen & Abby Break Up?

However, as Dr. Jerry's life was ended in the hands of Joel, Abby had turned into a completely different person. Grieving from loss, Abby was filled with rage and hunger for revenge, something Owen was highly against, but he had no choice but to let her.

While it's unclear why the two broke up, it's likely due to this, or the fact that Abby had drowned himself too much in sadness that she distanced herself from everybody else, including Owen and even Mel.

4 Owen & Abby's Sex Scene Was Removed In Japanese Edition

The subject of sex scenes on video games has been a constant debate for years, but the Japanese game rating board, CERO, had taken a bold move by removing Abby and Owen's sex scene. On the original version, Abby and Owen can be seen having sex, while on the Japanese one, it will cut from the moment they kissed and soon fade to black.

While it's not as blatant as Cyberpunk 2077, God of War, or The Witcher 3, it's clear that the Japanese board felt that the scene was out of bounds.

3 Owen Was, Indirectly, Responsible of the Death of Abby's Friends

Albeit Owen's displeasure and disapproval of Abby's revenge mission, she still insisted on it. When Ellie managed to get into their torture room, almost everyone from Abby's group wanted her to be killed, including Jason, but Owen was the only one who stood up and stopped them.

He also told Abby to quickly finish what she started, but little did he know that he's actually started a more significant chaotic event that will eventually kill all Abby's friends. If Owen did not stop them from killing Ellie and Tommy, he would probably still be alive.

2 But, If It Wasn't for His Death, Abby Wouldn't Go After Ellie, Too

It's all the cumulative, domino effects that set off a chain of events. Abby had no idea that Ellie had been spending days hunting her and her friends, only to find out her 'secret lover' Owen and his pregnant girlfriend Mel were brutally murdered by the girl from Jackson after Abby failed to return to the aquarium before nightfall drew.

If it wasn't for Ellie clumsily and carelessly left her map or Lev found it, Abby wouldn't be able to go after Ellie, and Jesse could be alive.

1 But, But, If It Wasn't for Abby Going After Ellie, Nobody Would Save Abby & Lev from the Rattlers

Ellie and Abby fight each other in The Last of Us Part 2

And, again, if it wasn't for Abby deciding to spare Ellie at the theater, nobody would set her and Lev free from the Rattlers. When Ellie met Abby at the beach, the muscular, shredded Abby that we knew the whole game was gone. She's severally weakened, and she begged Ellie to cut her loose.

Sure, Abby and Lev would still go after the newly-regrouped Fireflies in Santa Barbara, probably with Owen too, but they'd even end up crossing path and getting captured by the slave-owning militia group. Credits for Ellie for saving them both.
