Photos of The Last Of Us's set taken by a fan appear to show what will be the backdrop for the show's first episode if the story is lifted directly from the game.

Production on The Last Of Us TV show is seriously starting to ramp up. News of the big money being thrown at all ten episodes was revealed last week, as well as some more members of what has quickly become a pretty star-studded cast. It seems production has also officially begun on the show as the very first set photos have emerged online.

The photos, which were taken by a fan, show a street in Alberta, Canada, where the show is being filmed after it has been transformed into an Austin, Texas high street. For those unfamiliar with The Last Of Us, the story begins in Austin. It is where you are first introduced to Joel as he and his daughter try to escape at the start of the outbreak.

After the opening scenes, the game jumps forward in time to a point where only the strongest have survived and the world looks very different from how it does today. That's why the assumption after seeing the set photos in the tweet above is that it has been created for scenes that will open The Last Of Us's very first episode. Before the apocalypse has taken hold.

Look away now if you have never played The Last Of Us and want to avoid spoilers. If HBO and the show's creators are going to kick things off in the same way as the game, then those who haven't played through its opening are in for a heartbreaking start. Joel survives the outbreak and escapes Austin. However, his daughter Sarah does not.

The show's creators have confirmed the show will follow the narrative of the games, but there will still be some surprises thrown in. Despite that and the photos above, it's still possible the initial outbreak isn't where episode one kicks off. Especially after Dumbo star Nico Parker was cast in the role of Sarah. It seems strange to have cast a star of that magnitude in a role that will presumably be incredibly short-lived.
