There are very few areas in League of Legends more exciting than the bottom lane. Typically home to both a support champion and a ranged physical fighter of each team, it’s exceptionally chaotic and involves more communication early in the game than any other role, making it great for friends and frustrating for solo players.

These sorts of frustrations have been around for nearly the entire existence of the game, with more champions and updates making this role even more complicated than before. As a result, countless players have been making art and memes to illustrate the oddities of the role, and the bizarre champions that populate it.

10 Perfectly Balanced

Several ADC champions from League of Legends celebrate the nerfing of a powerful mage item

Thanks to the diversity of champions in the game, it’s fairly rare for characters to feel identical as they level up. The prime exception, however, is often with the game's items, with some historically powerful weapons like Deathfire Grasp giving a huge boost to nearly every champion using Ability Power.

The creator of this meme is surely thankful for this change, as most mages likely don’t see the benefit this has for the other roles. ADC players need to keep up with the more magical competition, so nerfs to items like this are worth celebrating.

9 Just Click The Lantern

Thresh of League of Legends throws a lantern to Miss Fortune, only to be blocked by Yasuo

Support mains have always had their own sets of unique and frustrating problems with the game. Trying to heal and protect your team requires a massively different skill set compared to defeating opponents, and when it comes to Thresh it can be especially painful to see players ignore the lantern you provide to give them a quick shortcut across the map.

Even more frustrating, though, is when your enemies directly block your efforts, something that artist InkSen shows Yasuo can do with his projectile-blocking shield. It makes sense that it can block nearly anything thrown by a champion, but having a killing blow blocked is often less painful than it is to lose your saving throw.

8 Hold Me Closer, Tiny Jungler

The bot lane from League of Legends visualized as a needy cat demanding attention from the jungler

Due to the rapid changes that can happen in the bottom lane, the closeness to the Dragon, and the higher chance of getting double kills, it can be easy for junglers to stick near the bottom lane. It makes for a fairly simple curve, and while it’s important to gravitate around the map, it's often a powerful strategy to remain near a single lane.

That said, this can become a major problem when the bottom lane themselves is too dependent, as this Reddit meme illustrates perfectly. The jungler is doing a great service that every lane should be thankful for, but the rest of your team needs them too. An extra hand is nice, but try not to rely on it too hard.

7 Bring It All In

Brain comparison meme between traditional League of Legends support players, and those who pull foes in dangerously

One of the oldest champions in the game is Blitzcrank, a lovable robot with the biggest hands and longest arms you can get. Pulling an opponent out of their team to knock them up while your team damages them, but without cooperating with your partner, it can be just as much a disaster.

This is just what memes like this aim to showcase, as most pulls from champions like Blitzcrank and Thresh can turn into utter disasters immediately. Always signal your team if you’re planning to pull, because the last thing you want is to be abandoned before a risky dive.

6 Run For Your Lives

Spongebob and Patrick run from Pyke from League of Legends as he hooks and annihilates them

Damage-based supports are hardly new to the game, but few can pull off the strategy as well as Pyke. This AD champion is still relatively new to the game, but the ability to pull champions in and stealthily swim across the map makes him exceptionally difficult to deal with, particularly with an ultimate that deals an obscene amount of finishing damage.

Players on Reddit are quite aware of this, as this meme gives an accurate depiction of how it feels to be fleeing from Pyke at half-health. So long as you don’t panic like Spongebob and Patrick, you’re sure to get out of it, just so long as your reflexes are fast enough to dodge his lasso-like hook.

5 Perfect Couples

Rakan of League of Legends having a successful game while Xayah fails to get kills

Whether you’re playing as a matching couple like Rakan and Xayah, or any pair of random characters in the bottom lane, it’s good for you to be fairly even in terms of skill. Getting carried might be a lot of fun, but being on the same wavelength will often win you the game as it means you have a similar amount of gold, kills, and experience.

This is often not the case, though, as artist Tipanny shows just how distant some supports can be from their ADC. It’s always surreal to see a support with more kills than their carry, but seeing the carry have more deaths can often be a failure on both partners in the lane.

4 League of Yuumi

Yuumi of League of Legends drops Kai'sa like Andy drops Woody from Toy Story

While touted as one of the easiest champions in the game, Yuumi is significantly more bizarre compared to other recent supports. With her ability to attach onto other characters, all that’s left is to set wards and land your abilities, making it theoretically quite easy.

However, Reddit seems aware that it’s very easy for an ADC to not deserve this potentially straightforward assistance. When you’re forced to occupy the same coordinates on the map, it can be frustrating, and it’s plenty fair of Yuumi players to want to leave to help someone else carry the game.

3 All By Myself

Yuumi bounces from Jinx to a Jungle Sona in League of Legends

There’s one other side to this Yuumi behavior, though, as abandoning your carry can often have dire consequences. The champions of the bottom lane are typically built to play off of each other, and glass cannons like Jinx can’t often win the game single-handedly in most games.

Artist Diazex likely knows this frustration too well, displaying the cheery abandonment that some Yuumi’s can take before going to an even riskier partner. It doesn’t feel good to be supporting a weak player or behind, but as a support, it’s your duty to keep the worst members of your team standing.

2 Double Vision

Thresh and Sona from League of Legends fight over a single ward while Jinx and Caitlyn are abandoned and confused

One of the key parts of the support role in any MOBA besides healing and damage is warding the map, giving their team vision and awareness of what’s going on elsewhere on the map. One of the more common issues with many supports is their lack of warding, where they focus too much on fighting opponents to consider their role in the team.

Oppositely, artist justduet shows an alternative problem that more active supports have, where they’re so focused on their’s and their opponent’s wards that their carries are left alone. Unlike this comic, though, it’s more likely that an ADC is bound to get taken down during these kinds of scuffles.

1 Penta-Healer

Soraka of League of Legends gets a pentakill, surprising Ant-Man in Avengers Endgame

Pentakills are some of the most valued achievements in League of Legends, but they aren’t as difficult to accomplish as they might seem. These are not determined by fully destroying opponents, but by causing five killing blows, and if the opposing team is all low on health, it’s plenty possible for aggressive champions to get one with some good timing.

As king.luxie on Instagram shows, some supports are capable of equally great feats. It’s a total mystery how someone with low damage output like Soraka can deal five killing blows, but if a healer is that powerful, it’s likely safer to not find out.
