Riot Games has announced that this year's League of Legends All-Star Event will be returning to the HyperX Esports Arena at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. Just like last year, the event will feature charity fundraisers and competitive matches in non-standard game modes alongside competitive Summoner's Rift play. Plus, this year will be the first to showcase Teamfight Tactics gameplay, making it the first All-Star Event to feature multiple Riot-developed games. It will take place from December 5th to the 7th.

Players in attendance will be a mix of some voted in by fans and others invited by Riot. Fans will be able to vote for two players from each esports region. In addition, Riot will then invite an additional six pro players not already chosen in the fan vote, plus streamers, Teamfight Tactics players and other League of Legends community members like cosplayers and video content creators. In total, somewhere around 64 players and personalities will be invited to showcase their skills.

Voting has been arranged to select two players from each region so that the event will properly represent the global phenomenon that League of Legends has become. The pool will start with players that have competed in the most recent competitive split and be narrowed down from there. While fans can vote for players in other regions, those votes will only count for 20% of a given player's final total. As voting is happening, League of Legends social media will post voting tally updates, which will also be hosted on an official voting site.

Since Teamfight Tactics is a new game with a still-developing professional scene, the top players are currently a mix of streamers and esports professionals (many of whom still focus primarily on streaming, with their sights set on future tournaments, should a lucrative esports scene develop around TFT). The competition in the inaugural TFT All-Star Event games will likely reflect that.

This will be the first major League of Legends event following this year's World Championships, which will take place on November 10th in Paris. The event will be located at the HyperX Esports Arena for the second year in a row.
