Ryan Mireles, the lead producer for Riot Games' popular MOBA, League of Legends, has announced that a new top-lane champion will be introduced this year. While specifics on the kit are still thin, the character's history and where they'll be played on the Rift have been elaborated on somewhat.

The inbound champion, K’Sante, the Pride of Nazumah, comes from a relatively unknown part of Shurima in the city of Nazumah.

Nazumah is described as an oasis city on the outskirts of the desert, and it's worth noting that it's one of the few Shurima locations that refuses to subject itself to Azir. Many cities in Shurima have declined to the point where their inhabitants must scrape together what little food and water they can to stay alive; this one is no exception.

K'Sante is a hunter who leads the Nazumah people in their fight against the giant monsters that roam their land. The new hero's weapon, called Ntofos, is made from the regenerating hide of one of these monsters and can shed its clumsy exterior to reveal sharpened blades within.

According to Mireles, Ntofos is typically employed defensively but can be shattered at any time to enable a massive burst of damage and then return to blunt form to "bludgeon the crap out of you."

The lead producer has not committed to a specific release date for K'Sante, only saying that it will be "later this year." Still, August is almost over, so players shouldn't have to wait very long.

K’Sante is one of three new champions set to be introduced to LoL, per Mireles, who has disclosed that a fourth Darkin and an enchanter from the Ixtal region will arrive by 2023. A number of current champions are also going to be reworked.
