Riot Games has revealed Seraphine, the Starry-Eyed Songstress, as the newest champion to hit League of Legends servers. The pink-haired champion has been heavily hyped up online, with the League team creating an official Twitter account for the character. Seraphine will hit the Summoner’s Rift in Patch 10.22, which is scheduled to go live on October 28th.

Seraphine comes from the Runeterran region of Piltover. The Starry-Eyed Songstress can hear other people’s souls, using that sound as inspiration, “turning the chaos into a symphony.” Now a popstar, Seraphine believes in raising up the voices of those who are struggling. “They inspire her, and she will do her best to inspire them in return.”

Seraphine’s passive ability is called Stage Presence. Every third ability she casts will echo, automatically casting again. A Note is created whenever Seraphine casts an ability near an ally, which will give her basic attacks added range and allows them to deal extra magic damage.

High Note is Seraphine’s Q ability, allowing her to send out a “pure note,” which deals magic damage that is increased “by the target's missing health percentage.” Her W ability is called Surround Sound, which gives Seraphine and her nearby allies added movement speed and a shield. Seraphine’s E ability, called Beat Drop, lets the Songstress project a “heavy soundwave,” which deals magic damage and slows down enemies. Already slowed enemies are rooted, and already rooted enemies are stunned by the soundwave.

Seraphine takes the stage in Encore, her ultimate ability. She sends out a “captivating force” that deals magic damage and charms her enemies. Both enemies and allies can be hit by the force, and each champion hit extends the range of the ability. Any allies hit are granted maximum Notes.

Many fans have pointed out Seraphine’s similarity to Sona, another musically gifted champion. League of Legends lead champion producer Ryan “Reav3” Mireles responded to fans’ concerns on Reddit, urging them to “try her out” before drawing a conclusion solely from her abilities. “Many people had similar reactions to Lillia, Yone and Samira but once you play those champs in game they feel very unique and different,” Reav3 comments. “[...] I think you should try her out for yourself before jumping on the Sona 2.0 train though.”
