League of Legends: Wild Rift just expanded its closed beta access to South Korea and Japan, but it looks like even bigger plans are in store for next year. Come Spring of 2021, players in the Americas will finally gain access to the highly-anticipated game.

The news came directly from Riot Games in the form of a Game Update blog on the Wild Rift website. We don't have an official date for the impending North American release, but this is the first time the region has ever been discussed in regards to the closed beta.

Meanwhile, all regions where the closed beta is currently taking place can look forward to the Regional Open Beta beginning on October 27. Even better – the open beta will include iOS users, giving the Wild Rift team the first look at how the game performs across both platforms. Here's the full list of regions where the open beta will be available:

  • Indonesia
  • Japan
  • Malaysia
  • Philippines
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Thailand
  • Brunei
  • Cambodia
  • Laos
  • Myanmar
  • Timor-Leste

In early December, several new regions will gain access to Wild Rift. These include:

  • Europe
  • Middle East
  • North Africa
  • Oceania
  • Russia
  • Taiwan
  • Turkey
  • Vietnam

Then, after what feels like years of waiting, folks in North and South America will gain access in Spring of 2021.

Wild Rift has a few updates planned before the Regional Open Beta begins on October 27. Lee Sin will be added on October 22, along with a few other champs that are still in the "preview" phase of testing, such as Akali, Darius, Draven, and Kai'Sa. There's also a bunch of in-game rewards planned for testers, as well as "locally-tailored content every day on the road to Open Beta." The remainder of October is going to be an exciting time for Wild Rift players.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is expanding to a regional open beta on October 27. North and South American players should be able to go hands-on with Wild Rift in Spring of 2021, while select regions in Africa and Europe will gain access in December.
