LeBron James wasn't a fan of Squid Game's ending, but it's all good as the show's creator feels the same way about Space Jam: A New Legacy.

It's hard to believe that this time two months ago none of us had ever heard of Squid Game. Fast forward to today and apparently, more than 111 million of us watched it within a move of it arriving on Netflix. That eye-watering number made it the biggest launch in Netflix history. It also led to a South Korean broadband provider suing Netflix for the added strain on its service.

Since so many people have seen Squid Game, odds are a lot of pretty famous people have watched the series. LeBron James certainly has. When asked about the show during a press conference earlier this month, James revealed that he didn't like its finale. Fair warning at this point, there are Squid Game spoilers ahead in case you haven't finished watching the show.

“I didn’t like the ending, though. I know it’s supposed to start off season two, but get on that fucking flight and see your daughter,” James said. Strong critique, even throwing an f-bomb in there for good measure. The winner of the game Seong Gi-hun is about to board a flight to see his daughter in the US when he changes his mind and turns around, presumably so he can take down those running the deadly game he was a part of 12 months prior.

Squid Game's creator Hwang Dong-hyuk obviously heard what James had to say about his baby and had a pretty amusing response during an interview with The Guardian. “Have you seen Space Jam 2?” was Hwang's reply to James's criticism. “Maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll check it out and maybe send him a message saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending'.”

Space Jam: A New Legacy hit theaters and HBO Max earlier this year and was effectively one long advert for Warner Bros. Speaking of which, there are rumors a Smash Bros. clone of that very same concept is in the works that will allow you to finally discover who would win in a fight: Batman or Gandalf. As for Squid Game, Netflix is yet to confirm it will be renewed for a second season, but Hwang has admitted he is keen to continue telling the story.
