Great news for fans of the Legend of Heroes games: the latest in the series will hit Switch and PC sometime next year! In a recent live stream, it was revealed that the most recent game, The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki (Trails of the Beginning), would be coming to Nintendo Switch and PC, via Steam, in Japan in the Summer of 2021. This likely means that North America will begin seeing the series pop up on Switch and Steam beginning next year.

This news was debuted during a live stream by developers Nihon Falcom aptly titled "Falcom Day 2020." The announcement, which falls around the 26:20 mark in the video, doesn't specify when the game will be hitting North American shelves and focuses only on the Japanese release.

However, the North American releases generally follow the Japanese release by a year or two.

The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki, which launched for the PlayStation 4 on August 27 in Japan, is expected to hit North American shelves sometime next year. With this news, it is likely that the game will launch for PlayStation along with Switch and PC in the U.S. That would surely make the extra wait time worth it.

The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki allows players to earn special accessories and bonuses by linking the game with other save data from previous entries in the series. Plus, the game utilizes a "Cross Story" system where players can switch between routes to show the story from different viewpoints and perspectives that span the different entries into the series. Also, the game will launch with over 50 characters and opportunities to dive into each of their backstories.

While many believed that this entry into the series would be the last, it turns out that it is actually the beginning of a new saga. Looks like those heroes will be sticking around for a while longer, which makes sense as the game has a massive following over all platforms, even mobile.

The news of Legend of Heroes coming to Nintendo Switch is particularly exciting as the original game, The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki, launched for the handheld PSP back in 2010.  It looks like the folks over at Nihon Falcom are taking the series back to its handheld roots
