Enemies are abundant throughout Hyrule; however, boss fights are few and far between. Breath Of The Wild features some of the best boss battles in The Legend Of Zelda franchise, so there are plenty of unique challenges even though they're uncommon.

Some bosses only appear once in a playthrough, but there are also boss fights you can encounter throughout the open world. Out of all the boss fights in Breath Of The Wild, these are the best ones, ranked by their difficulty and unique attributes.

10 Fireblight Ganon

Fireblight Ganon is the boss you fight after solving every puzzle in Vah Rudania, one of the four Divine Beasts. Although Fireblight Ganon puts up a difficult fight, it doesn't have any particularly unique mechanics compared to the other three Divine Beast Ganons.

Fireblight Ganon can shoot fireballs at you, so you need to stay aware of your surroundings at all times. You can easily defeat Fireblight Ganon by positioning Link underneath the boss. Ice Arrows are also immensely powerful against Fireblight Ganon.

9 Thunderblight Ganon

Thunderblight Ganon is a step up from Fireblight Ganon because it can paralyze you if you get hit by its electricity. Additionally, Thunderblight Ganon is a speedy boss, and it can teleport around you without any warning. Paying attention to its every move is the key to defeating Thunderblight Ganon.

You encounter Thunderblight Ganon inside Vah Naboris, so it's one of the bosses you face in the main storyline. Thunderblight Ganon's electricity makes it a tough enemy to battle, especially since it's difficult to see coming.

8 Igneo Talus Titan

Talus bosses are incredibly strong, and you can find them all throughout Hyrule. There are a few different types of Talus, but the Igneo Talus is the most unique variant because it looks like molten rock.

The Igneo Talus isn't only special in appearance; it can also create explosions that can defeat Link in a few swift attacks. You have to be very careful if you encounter an Igneo Talus in the wild since its bulky arms and powerful explosions can quickly launch you across the battlefield. The Igneo Talus Titan is even stronger because it's a giant version of the regular boss.

7 Master Kohga

Master Kohga is a tricky boss to defeat because he can summon metal objects to throw at Link. You need to use Magnesis to defend against the objects, so acting quickly is of crucial importance during this boss battle.

Many of the boss battles in Breath Of The Wild use repetitive mechanics, so Master Kohga's unique moveset makes him one of the best bosses in the game. Additionally, Master Kohga is one of the few unique bosses that don't reside inside of a Divine Beast.

6 The Stalnox

The Stalnox is a special type of Hinox. The Stalnox only appears at night, and its body consists of a skeleton, which is what helps it stand out from the other Hinox bosses. This enemy can throw trees at you, but it can also use its bones as weapons.

It's easy for the Stalnox to defeat you since its attacks deal so much damage, so you should only use high damage weapons to fight it. Shooting a Stalnox in its eye stuns it, so a bow is essential for this boss battle.

5 Windblight Ganon

Windblight Ganon is arguably the strongest version of Ganon in any of the Divine Beasts because it can create tornadoes, which have the potential to devastate the landscape. Luckily, Link can use the paraglider to ride the tornadoes, similar to other gusts of air in Breath Of The Wild.

Outside of tornadoes, Windblight Ganon also has a cannon on its body that it can use to attack you with swift blasts. The idea of a creature that can control the air is terrifying, which is why it works so well as a boss.

4 Waterblight Ganon

Waterblight Ganon prepares to fight Link in BOTW

Waterblight Ganon is the Vah Ruta boss battle. Its moveset is large, and you need to use the water in the arena to defend against its attacks by activating the Cryonis ability to create ice blocks. Additionally, Waterblight Ganon can attack you with floating ice shards, so you need to act quickly to avoid being overwhelmed in every direction.

Waterblight Ganon does have a weakness, though. If you hit the boss in the eye with an arrow, it opens up an opportunity to damage it. Vah Ruta is a well-designed Divine Beast and the Waterblight Ganon boss battle is one of the primary reasons why it's so challenging.

3 Calamity Ganon

Calamity Ganon is the final boss fight in Breath Of The Wild, so it's no surprise that it's so challenging. There are a few stages in this fight, and this enemy can also use all the Blight Ganon attacks, so it's a diverse fight full of twists and turns.

What makes Calamity Ganon so special is that the difficulty varies based on your previous actions, such as losing a chunk of its health for every Divine Beast you defeated before entering the fight. You can also fight Calamity Ganon whenever you want, regardless of how much you've done in Hyrule's open world. These attributes make the Calamity Ganon boss fight a lot of fun to play and they allow you to approach it in multiple ways.

2 Monk Maz Koshia

Monk Maz Koshia is the final DLC boss you fight in Breath Of The Wild, and it has a high reputation for a few good reasons. Firstly, Monk Maz Koshia has a unique appearance, so it isn't a recycled boss like a Hinox.

This enemy attacks you with a powerful sword while teleporting around the battlefield. Monk Maz Koshia can also split into multiple copies, which is a unique ability that only this boss fight features.

1 Molduga & Molduking

zelda_botw_molduking_boss_fight_in_the_desert

The Molduga is one of the strongest enemies in Hyrule, which is why it's one of the best boss battles available. The Molduga hides under the sand in the Gerudo Desert, waiting for an adventurer to fight. It's particularly susceptible to explosions, so Bomb Arrows work well against it.

The Malduga has an odd appearance because it looks somewhat like an animal you'd find in an ocean, but it's still alien enough to elicit surprise from most travelers. There's also an even more difficult boss with the same concept by the name of Molduking.
